Three tips to make your resume stand out
Your resume is your first impression to any future employer, so make sure it’s strong! Here are a couple of tips that can help you land an interview directly from an HR Recruiter.
Commit yourself to the work
Many of our positions go through weeks of training to make sure our staff is prepared to help and support our wonderful clients. We look for employees that are committed to our mission and want to stay for the long haul, so we like to see that you’ve been with a company for at least a year. Not only does it show your commitment to a previous employer, it’s a reassurance for the work we do. After all, once you start working for us, the growth opportunities are endless.
Nice, neat, up-to-date resume
We look at hundreds of resumes a month to fill positions, so its impossible to reach out and interview everyone. You want to make sure you make that list of people who really stand out to our team. It’s time to make your resume clean, easy to read, and tidy. That means:
• It should be free of typos, misspellings, and errors.
• Keep it up to date, meaning your last or most current job is at the beginning of your resume. If you are no longer there, please add an end date.
• One page is the ideal length for a resume, but make sure it’s no longer than two.
• Make it relevant to the job you are applying for. Be sure you include details about how your previous job experience and roles could translate to the role for which you’re applying.
Apply for positions where you meet the criteria
It’s important to read job descriptions and qualifications carefully. Apply for jobs for which you believe you are qualified for and a good fit. Some positions require certain educational or background requirements that agencies cannot deviate from – sometimes due to funding sources.
